Service is an essential element of many afterschool programs. Service helps students to develop compassion, leadership skills, and connections to the community. However, it can be a challenge to tie service to academic and enrichment goals. This session will teach you how to take a good service project and turn it into an excellent service learning opportunity. We will learn the essential elements of the service learning cycle, and work together to develop service learning plans that can be implemented with various ages and populations.
