The art of group facilitation is using energy and enthusiasm to inspire learning and direct youth in such a way that they feel accomplished and an integral member of the group. Youth grow and thrive when they are provided with boundaries, given opportunity to learn and practice new skills, and reinforced for their positive contributions. This session will introduce guidelines for being a trauma-informed facilitator, discuss using norms and positive reinforcement to manage behavior, and teach group-processing techniques to promote development of basic social skills. Participants will walk away with a “toolkit” of techniques to implement in their own programs.
